There is one very serious reality of CSM that must be exposed. The Bee Wise Story

The Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Curriculum was birthed from an inspiration I was given after coming from a “JCI” (Just Claim It) youth prayer conference I had the pleasure of conducting seminars for. Our ministry is actively involved in establishing the value of virginity and the benefits of abstinence for our youth, young adults, and singles, yet I was shown that there was something still missing. It was confirmed that our ministry was indeed important and relevant, but there was still an unaddressed issue God wanted us to expose–CSM (childhood sexual molestation).

It was painfully clear from my research and talking with countless individuals through our then eight years of ministry (now 10 years), that a lot of the sexual promiscuity seen with our children, from “kindergarten” through high school, was not the problem but a symptom of a deeper more serious problem. According to statistics, the majority of the sexual activity seen in our youth was due to their childhood experience, due to being exposed to sexual material and/or activity prematurely, resulting in their sexual activity, “acting out”.

I was enlightened by the Holy Spirit to the fact that some of our energies and resources would be better spent if they would be re-directed to preventing the experience that led to the tragic statistics regarding the victims of CSM. Because the proliferation of sex offenders and pedophiles has reached epidemic levels, I was given the inspiration to develop a curriculum that would not only address this dilemma, but also empower children, age four and up, to recognize, avoid, and report CSM. An ounce of prevention is indeed worth a pound of cure especially when it comes to our children.

It is a wise assumption that if we can reduce the number of incidences of CSM, we will reduce the sexual activity, and all of the additional adverse consequences now experienced by our youth. This is the intent of the Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Curriculum. In addition, the curriculum will also accomplish the following:

1) Provide the tool for parents to begin dialogue with their child regarding sexuality that will be both biblical and age appropriate. It is vitally important that parents establish a rapport with their child as early as possible when it comes to addressing sexual issues. This practice will insure that as the child gets older and more mature sexual subjects need to be addressed, both parent and child will be comfortable in talking about the issues that must be discussed in the home, ensuring that the child will be taught the values and morals embraced by their parents.

2) Act as a counter balance to the erroneous information now being circulated as truth regarding sexuality in our culture. The establishment of a child’s gender, self worth, based on their relationship and value with God, and their personal accountability will all be addressed in a manner that will instill discipline and the ability to say no to inappropriate activity.

3) Create a nationwide awareness of CSM and develop “Bee Wise” Kids, Bee Wise Parents, and Bee Wise Churches.

BEE WISE KIDS

It has been established that pedophiles target children they feel are less likely to tell others about their inappropriate advances. It is believed that if a molester knows a child has been empowered to recognize and report molestation, they will avoid that child and unfortunately, go for an easier victim. Our curriculum will empower a child to become an undesirable target.

BEE WISE PARENT

Bee Wise parents will be those who have a better understanding of the “real” dangers our children face in this culture when it comes to sexual molestation and are actively involved in not only teaching their child how to recognize, avoid, and report molestation, they will also be more deliberate as to what their child is exposed to, where they child goes and who they associate with.

BEE WISE CHURCHES

Churches are the perfect place for pedophiles because of our willingness to embrace any and everyone who makes the claim that they want to come to Christ and join the congregation. In most churches, it does not take much for a pedophile to be totally embraced and gain access to children. Our program will bring awareness to a congregation that will make it more difficult and less attractive for a molester to join a congregation “if” they have an unholy intent. Being a Bee Wise Church will also be attractive to parents who wish to keep their children in a fellowship that actively addresses the need to be proactive when it comes to dealing with the nationwide plague of CSM.

Why the Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Workshop?

• 1 in 4 female child will be sexually molested before the age of 18.

• 1 in 6 male child will be sexually molested before the age of 18.

• 1 in 5 children are solicited sexually while on the internet.

• Nearly 70% of all reported sexual assaults (including assaults on adults) occur to children ages 17 and under.

• An estimated 39 million survivors of childhood sexual abuse exist in America today.

• 30-40% of child victims are molested by a family member.

• Another 50% are molested by someone outside of the family whom they know and trust.

Securing Hope Ministry’s Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Workshop is designed for parents and ministry leaders who want to be proactive in protecting children from sexual molestation.

This workshop will teach the participants how to teach the Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Curriculum designed for children ages 4-9. Those who complete this two day workshop will receive a certificate and have a working knowledge of every component of the Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Curriculum. This workshop is especially crucial for parents/guardians with young children.

The workshop will identify current trends and issues regarding CSM, (childhood sexual molestation) which will establish the need and benefits of the curriculum, identify and address the critical life skills that will empower children to recognize, avoid and report CSM, and testing.

Our goal is to empower as many children as possible, ages 4-9, to recognize, avoid, and report CSM. It is a fact that most children nine years old and younger would not recognize being molested because unfortunately this is not a subject their parents, our culture and church as a whole even address. This reality means our children are at a disadvantage when it comes to being prepared to act appropriately when confronted by a molester and/or experience stimuli to engage in inappropriate sexual activity themselves.

Since the axiom “if they know better, they’ll do better” is a fact, we believe the most logical option to empower children to avoid becoming victims of CSM is simply to educate them. Our Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Curriculum is created to be the means by which children, age four and up, will indeed be able to 1) recognize, 2) avoid, and 3) report CSM.

In addition, this curriculum will also help to establish healthy “God centered” self worth, enable children to embrace and appreciate their “birth” gender assignment, develop character and responsibility, and a level of confidence and comfortableness when it comes to discussing age appropriate sexual issues with their parents.

After a child has successfully completed the curriculum they should be able to know:

The difference between a “good touch” and a “bad touch”, made by the child and others;

The difference between public body parts and private body parts along with their purpose; (age appropriate)

What to do if someone attempts to or actually touches them inappropriately;

PARENTS

It is God’s will that parents train up their child in the way they should go–instilling proper values and morals, while they are young, so that which was taught will remain with them as they get older. It is the teaching of values and morals that create the stability so needed in any society. These values that should be common knowledge and embraced by every member of our culture unfortunately are not taught to every child. This creates a real dilemma that can’t be ignored.

God states in His word that “His” people would be destroyed for the lack of knowledge, it is this reality, especially when it comes to the devastating affects of CSM, that should be understood and addressed by every parent , it is this reality that our Bee Wise Children’s Life Skill Curriculum and workshop was created to resolve.

It is our goal to develop “Bee Wise Parents” who will know about the real and present dangers each and every child faces in our culture when it comes to sexual molestation. In addition it is also very important that they have the tools to empower their child to recognize, avoid, and report CSM. The Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Curriculum workshop was designed to accomplish both of these objectives. This workshop consist of four very informative1-hour sessions designed to:

establish the cause and effect of CSM;

inform the attendees of the varies methods pedophiles use to attract and molest children;

identify signs and symptoms of sexual molestation;

Church

Childhood sexual molestation is at epidemic levels in our culture and is experienced in every organization that works with and involves children, including the Church. History proves that pedophiles and sexual molesters, young and old, have been operating within the sacred walls of the Church for thousands of years and instead of the Body of Christ addressing this reality, we have ignored it.

The Church is actually one of the most easiest ways for pedophiles to gain access to children because of it’s members willingness to embrace anyone who proclaims to want salvation and to become a member of a congregation. Since there is no background check made on new members, there is no way to know what people’s intentions are when joining a church.

More and more, churches are requiring background checks for those who are going to work with children and youth groups within the church, however, unfortunately this is the exception instead of the rule, and even with a back ground check being done, if a pedophile has never been caught, they would not show up on any registry, thus a background check would be of no benefit. In addition, the total number of all registered sex offenders only represent about 10% of the “real” number of pedophiles that operate in and outside of the Church daily.

Since we will never be able to identify every molester, and since our law enforcement agencies are unable to monitor or control the expansion of the internet child porn industry, the underground world of pedophiles and their ever growing network, and the increase of molestation done by those who profess to be Christians, each congregation must begin to be “aggressively” proactive when it comes to making their congregation a safe place for children and teens, and be the organization of healing and restoration God has both empowered and required it to be.

Our ministry is committed to helping congregations throughout the nation to become a “Bee Wise” Church through education and empowerment using our Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life skills Curriculum and workshop. The goal of our efforts is to have every child between the ages of 4-9 to be a Bee Wise Kid and every parent to become a Bee Wise Parent. If every parent would use our curriculum to teach their child how to recognize, avoid, and report CSM, that entire congregation would then become a much safer place to worship and interact with their peers during church activities.

The decision of any congregation to take advantage of our program and become a Bee Wise Church will result in a number of very positive benefits. It has been established that pedophiles deliberately target children that are less likely to inform others regarding being molested, this unfortunately includes most children. Once a Church has been identified as a Bee Wise Church, because of being proactive and exposing each child to the curriculum (developing Bee Wise Kids), an environment of awareness and  empowerment will be established.

Bee Wise Churches will be ones pedophiles will avoid because they know children in such congregations are much more likely to recognize and report any inappropriate touching or sexual activity. Parents and the other adult members of the congregation too will be more observant and knowledgeable regarding CSM, which will make the entire Church the wrong place for pedophiles to establish themselves and thrive.

Bee Wise Churches will also be attractive for potential families who also want their children to be involved with an informed safe congregation. The emphasis of parental involvement of empowering their child at an early age regarding sexuality will also result in better more productive dialogue between the parents and child as they child gets older. This interaction between parent and child is critical in such a sexed charged culture. The benefits of “training up a child in the way they should go” will be realized and the generational curse of CSM will finally begin to be broken!

To become a Bee Wise Church simply involves a congregation sponsoring a Bee Wise Children’s Critical Life Skills Curriculum Workshop for the pastoral staff, parents, and youth leaders. Once these individuals successfully go through the workshop, the goal will be to teach EVERY child, in that congregation between the ages of 4-9, the curriculum and empower them to recognize, avoid, and report CSM. This should be the desire and goal of every Church that wants to insure the safety and stability of the children they are responsible for. “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of thy children”.
